The festivities kick off on February 2nd with a captivating performance by the internationally renowned Leo High School Boys Choir. This talented ensemble will serenade the audience with their soulful renditions, setting the stage for a month filled with artistic exploration. The theme for this year’s celebration is “African Americans and the Arts,” highlighting the profound impact Black artists have had on various creative disciplines.
Exploring Diverse Perspectives:
Throughout the month, Oakton will host a series of thought-provoking lectures, panel discussions, and film screenings that delve into various facets of Black history and culture. Renowned scholars, activists, and community leaders will share their insights on topics ranging from the Civil Rights Movement to the contemporary experiences of Black Americans.

A highlight of the month is the “Unsung Heroes” exhibition, showcasing the achievements of prominent Black individuals from the local community.
